Opiskeluun keskittyvä viikonloppu tanssijoille, jotka tuntevat tarvetta mennä pelkän tuttujen kuvioiden toistamisen ohi ja alkaa tehdä tietoisia valintoja tanssissa.
Työskentelyn tavoitteena ei ole lisätä uusia askeleita, vaan syventää tapaa, jolla jo tuttu materiaali herää eloon.
Keskiössä ovat kuuntelu, intentio ja liikkeen laatu – tekijät, jotka tekevät tangosta selkeämpää, henkilökohtaisempaa ja elävämpää.
Lähtökohtana ovat yksinkertaiset ja tutut rakenteet. Tutkimme, miten liikettä voidaan pysäyttää, ohjata toiseen suuntaan tai muuttaa, avaten uusia improvisaation mahdollisuuksia.
Kyse ei ole uuden keksimisestä, vaan näkökulman muuttamisesta, jolloin liike saa kehittyä luonnollisesti suhteessa pariin ja musiikkiin.
Tangon tanssiminen ei tarkoita materiaalin lisäämistä, vaan sen käyttötavan muuttamista. Jos tarvitset englanninkielisen tekstin käännöksen, lähetän sen henkilökohtaisesti.

Tango is not a sequence of steps to be performed, but a set of open possibilities chosen in the present—listening to the music, the dance floor, the other’s body. The richness lies not in how many figures you know, but in how free you are to choose, moment by moment, within the embrace.

Class 1 18.00- 19.30 «Inhabiting the Embrace» basic/interm

Before every step, there is a body inhabiting a shared space. In this stage, we begin with the closed embrace as a place of listening and possibility—not as a position to be held, but as an ongoing conversation.
We’ll work on the quality of contact, weight, and breath, to discover that within a well-inhabited embrace, infinite choices already exist—even before moving.
Through parallel walking and cruzado, the salida and its variations, we’ll explore how the pause becomes an active decision and how the structure itself changes profoundly when the music changes—its rhythm, its melody, its character.
For those who want the tango to truly begin in the embrace, not afterward.

Class 2 19.30- 21.00 «Choosing in the Present» Interm/Advanced

Tango isn’t a sequence to remember—it’s a set of possibilities that unfold moment by moment, as we listen to the music, the dance floor, and the other’s body.
In this workshop, we work on the concept of crossroads: every point of the dance contains multiple possible paths. We’ll learn to feel them and choose them in real time—inside the closed embrace, without leaving it.
Starting with short turns, sacadas, and small colgadas as tools of choice—not figures to be executed—we will explore how to recognize the rhythmic, melodic, and sung phrase, and how different orchestras invite the body to respond differently. Navigating the dance floor becomes a living part of the dialogue: adapting, compressing, expanding, choosing.

«Tango as a Mother Tongue»
Not a language learned by heart, but one spoken—with your own accent, your own rhythm, your own voice. This weekend, we’ll work on how tango truly becomes yours: not a collection of familiar figures, but a personal and living way of being in the dance, within a closed embrace, listening to the music and your partner.

27.06 SATURDAY
Class 1 13.00- 14.30 «The Phrase That Never Ends» basic/interm

In tango, every movement opens the next—there’s no figure that ends and another that begins, but a continuous flow of possibilities. In this workshop, we’ll work on how to keep the dance alive even in simple moments: a walk, a pause, a change of direction become part of a musical phrase that breathes and transforms.
We’ll explore the walk and the salida not as sequences to be completed, but as open starting points—learning to feel when to continue, when to stop, when to change.
 For those who want every step to have a before and after, not just a during.

Class 2 15.00- 16.30 «Weight, Direction, Intention» basic/interm

Clarity in dance doesn’t come from the figures, but from how the body communicates—through the weight, direction, and intention that precedes each movement. In this workshop, we work on how to make every choice more legible, more precise, and more musical, without adding complexity but refining what’s already there.
Through variations in the walk, small changes in direction, and the conscious use of pauses, we’ll discover how the quality of movement transforms the same structure into something completely different.
 For those who want their tango to speak clearly—without shouting.

28.06 SUNDAY Class 3 13.00- 14.30 «Listening to the Orchestras» Interm / advanced

D’Arienzo is not Di Sarli. Pugliese is not Canaro. Every orchestra has a voice, a character, a way of constructing the musical phrase—and the dancing body should respond to it differently. In this workshop, we work on how to recognize and inhabit the character of an orchestra, allowing it to change not the figures, but the way we experience them.
Short turns, sacadas, and pauses will become different instruments depending on who plays—not technical variations, but musical responses.
 For those who want music not to be a backdrop, but an interlocutor.

Class 4 15.00- 16.30 «Freedom within the Form» Interm/ advanced

Tango has a form—the ronda, the closed embrace, the couple. But within that form, there is enormous, often unexplored, freedom. In this workshop, we work on how to move with full expressive autonomy within the constraints of social dance: navigating the dance floor, responding to the music, choosing in real time—without leaving the embrace, without breaking the dialogue.
Dissociation, adornos, and small colgadas become tools of personal expression—not external additions, but one’s own voice within the conversation.

Giancarlo Pastonchi – Energy. Sensitivity. Music.
“Tango is like a smile that opens our hearts to a sense of wonder; the depth it conveys has nothing to do with heaviness. On the contrary, it is filled with lightness and amazement.”

In 2008, I discovered tango, which shaped me both in dancing and in my understanding of tango music and culture, thanks to my teachers Marco Evola and Laura Mommi. I studied with them consistently, eventually becoming their assistant and later a teacher in the stable courses for the Scuola Traspié.
In December 2014, I co-founded the Associazione Alchimia with Emanuela Filippelli, with whom I have taught in Perugia and Montepulciano.
I have studied with many teachers, but in greater depth with Javier Rodriguez, Maria Plazaola, Ricardo Viqueira, Carlitos Espinoza, and Osvaldo Roldan.
Since 2022, I have been living in Milan, where I work as a teacher offering both group and private lessons and as a Tango DJ (TJ) in the city’s milongas. One of my strengths is my ability to create cohesive groups of tango dancers. I teach not only the fundamental techniques but also promote the sharing of emotions and a sense of connection among my students, fostering a community of tango enthusiasts.
My private lessons are highly tailored to the needs of each student. Every session is designed to address individual requirements, ensuring skill development and confidence in tango. My goal is to help each student discover and express their unique tango!
